Bến Thành, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
By far the best local market on the traditional Vietnamese local market format...keeps all the types of clothing, Variety of fabric lengths for Male and Female, Souvenirs shops, baby clothes, accessories shops, types of dried fruits, Types of coffees, types of teas, Watces Sunglasses, Mobile covers and Accessories, Lanterns, Purses, belts,Shoes and sandals, Daily use items(Perfumes,Cosmetics, Utensils,Legumes, Spices)..on the back side they have Vegetables, Flowers, Fruits, Meat and Seafood Market...They have small eating joints within the market, where you can enjoy local Vietnamese food items and drinks..BARGAINING IS A MUST🤩 Located at the City Center District 1
The no 1 reason of me like this market is their fabrics. There’s a section in the market for fabrics and you can make your own Ao Dai (1 day service, delivered to your hotel room). The second one, the food they serve. Foods, fruits (my God... I went crazy over foods). At night, there are many hawker food stalls, mostly serving seafood. The place I visited is one of the most recommended. Reasonable price. Try their beer (I tried Saigon Red), light but still help you to have a good sleep.
Maybe it is not worth a visit to Ben Thanh market. Prices are way too high and sellers are sometimes rude. If you like to haggle, probably can give it a try. You probably even need to haggle with the taxis around the area. Better off just using a GrabCar.
If you decide to go here, make sure you bargain. Some people give you 50% off when you walk away.
If you like buying tourist tat at inflated prices while being harassed by every shoe shine person and motor cycle taxi in Vietnam at the same time, then this is the place for you. I love Asian markets. This one is not in the least bit representative. My local market is a lot better and doesn't try to.rip me off. This is no real Vietnam.
