We visited several of the Smithsonian museums while in Washington and the National Air and Space Museum was fantastic. It had something for all ages to see and was very educational. We spent a couple of hours in the museum, but could have stayed longer because there’s just that much to see. This and National Natural History Museum were the two best museums and they’re directly across the Mall from each other. Recommend you enter any of the museums your planning to visit from the street sides of the buildings (Constitution Ave for Natural History and Independence Ave for Space) versus the Mall side as the line ups to get in are much shorter. Definitely worth visiting while in Washington.

This is the wonderful story of Icarus narrated in a different way. The greatest epic, the most stunning adventure of the human species : how and when man began to fly and conquer space. The museum offers several teaching materials to understand this: pictures, documentaries and even a ( paying) simulator. A very informative experience for all ages. I highly recommend.

I would have given it 5 stars, but do many things were closed and under construction. Great selection of the actual machines that broke boundaries. Good gift shop. Great interactive exhibits. My highlight was the Wright flyer area. I live that this is free too. It is the least govt can do with money they take from me. Recommended.

Very exciting with actual rockets, sate lites, exhibitions with in depth insights. History of Space and Flight Evolution. Kids space are amazing to experience how gravity and design structure the airplanes and space ships. Great learning experiences with tour guides. Very nice and creative museum shops.

A bit crowded but very kid friendly with activities and games that the five-year-old twins I nanny absolutely loved. We made our own aircraft out of craft materials, created our own virtual rockets, looked through telescopes, and had a ton of fun just wandering around. Lines went quickly and staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Felt confident allowing the kids to explore a bit more openly as a lot of the museum has an open layout. Parking on the street wasn't too bad and only cost about $5 for two hours with less than a 5min. walk. Overall a great experience.
