Such a beautiful park. Great trails. Crystal clear blue water. Definitely plan on visiting again. Arrive early by 9 am to find parking. My family hiked the Rubicon trail. Wear good hiking shoes and bring plenty of water. Amazing scenery.

Very beautiful place to camp! So quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the upper side. Flushing toilets, showers and running water near the tent camping spot. No bugs in early June. Great fire pit grills as well as stone stoves. Beach is amazing not too crowded. Close to Emerald Bay. Must stay!

I’ll begin by saying this place is utterly gorgeous. However my friends and I had quiet the negative experience here. First and foremost, you’re allowed to bring your dog, but they are required to be leashed 24/7 and you’re not allowed to take them on any trails or down to the water. My dog was basically not allowed to do anything but stay tied to a tree. Absurd. Secondly, the yellow jackets are insane out there. Cooking is nearly impossible with them around. We made breakfast and had to fight off like 50 yellow jackets. It’s horrible. Lastly, the park rangers and state troopers are unbearable. We were harassed multiple times by the state troopers and park rangers. We went down to the lake for a couple hours and came back to a ledger of items they removed from our camp. Yes we accidentally left a ice chest out that had some hummus and various things. But they went through all our belongings and took things like our ipbrofen, my weed and pipe, and a whole list of things that apparently bears look for. I understand the food issue because bears are very active in this area but our privacy was fully invaded. The following day we had 2 state troopers come to our camp and tell us we had 30 minutes to pack our things and leave the camp or they were going to arrest us. They showed up with their hands on their gun holsters and quiet literally treated us like criminals. We had 1 more day of camp paid for ($45/night) and they would not refund us. We were kicked out because me and 2 friends were up late laughing and playing cards. Apparently that’s grounds for being kicked out of this camp area. My friend and I are from Oregon and have never experienced such a hostile camping environment. We were forced to leave and find a hotel in town. Again, beautiful camping area, but I would never go camp their again.

10 stars. Hands down - the most beautiful place to camp: clean campground amidst pine forest with all the facilities including hot showers, access to the incredible Rubicon Trail (the best 4 mile hike along Tahoe shore), impeccable Lester Beach and Calawee Cove for swimming. perfect weather (low 80-s, never too hot). Book the campsite 6 months in advance!
