A great example of a castle even though it's mostly ruins. There's a film telling you round about it and then other areas to discover different things. The food there was very nice as well
Well organized Good wheelchair access to most of site Buggy transport for wheelchair users from car park to castle may be available (depends on volunteer availability) Castle is interesting Good AV presentation of castle history but not accessible for unaided wheelchair user. Well worth a visit
It's a stunning castle with the moat all around it. The carp in the moat are huge and come to the surface. The castle is fascinating and their are guides happy to help. The car park is free to National Trust members. There are 2 cafes and a gift shop.
The most photogenic English medieval castle complete with moat and drawbridge. The guided tour brings it to life and you can spend several hours here. Good for families and history buffs.
This was a nice castle to explore The history behind it is interesting. Surrounding the castle, is a wide moat. For children, there is an area for training to be a knight. Unfortunately, I couldn't go up the towers or participate in archery due to the wind. They have a nice little video describing the purpose and history of the castle. I got lots of nice pictures with the bridge. I would definitely check this one out if you are in the area.
