6 Rama I Rd, Khwaeng Wang Mai, Khet Pathum Wan, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10330, Thailand
Beautiful and informative tour in the heart of the Bangkok tourist district. For 200 baht this is good value. If you want to kill 2-3 hours while quickly learning a brief history of Siam/Thailand then stop by the Jim Thompson house. The entrance fee includes the tour in several languages. The farmers market on the second floor of the gift shop is a good respite from the heat and has excellent mango ice cream with sticky rice, as we has some delicious herbal tea. There's also affordable and reasonable gifts/souvenirs. There's also a restaurant on the premises.
This was an unexpected discovery and became one of the best parts of my trip to Bangkok. The house itself is beautiful and our tour guide was amazing. Very knowledgeable and had such a beautiful personality. We noticed Jim Thompson stores everywhere after the trip and naturally I bought the book to learn about his history. I would like to visit the museum again on my n ct trip to Thailand. The restaurant was nice also.
A quite interesting place in Bangkok. Tye houses and all the stuff Jim Thompson had are kept very well. It is such a nice house in which Jim created in mix of a lot of Thai culture and his western upbringing. The guides were so professional and very informative. It would have been Greta to learn more about the Thai Silk he created.
The house and its garden are really interesting and beautiful. It is a lovely, tranquil spot in the middle of the busy city. Admission is reasonable. You have to join a guided tour. You cannot just wander around on your own. Guides are very knowledgable.
Have a 13 hour layover in Bangkok? This is an excellent way to experience some traditional, local culture and history. Great deal for 200 baht. Friendly tour guide and knowledgeable as well.
