A good insight into life as a Samurai, the guides are super knowledgeable, speak great English and enjoy telling a story or two. Suggest going in day time vs later on if it’s dark as the area looks full of girlie bars. Hard to imagine the Samurai uniforms are so old and on display without any glass separation. A very worthwhile part of a Tokyo day and we enjoyed it a lot

Well, the guided tour in English takes about an hour but is surely worth it. They try really hard to entertain the guests. The ¥1800 fee is kind of outrageous for their collection but as they say, they have to upkeep these splendid authentic armors(some are replicas but some are real) in the middle of Shinjuku. Overall, I think it’s worth a visit if you’re a visitor from abroad. I would give them five stars if the tour was ¥1000 but I suppose their ends don’t meet at that price. Good enough, I recommend the place. I think the Japanese have a word for places like this: ‘敢闘賞’, which roughly translates into 'deserving the well fought award'. Oh, I think they could improve their souvenir shop though. They have some 30K+ armored figurines and cheap looking straps, they need something in between like 3000-5000 yen stuffs that could appeal to foreigners.

We stumbled across this museum as we were walking along and decided to take our 2 children (8yr & 11yr) in to see it. It did not disappoint! We joined in an English speaking tour and our guide was amazing! Her in depth knowledge and English made the tour so enjoyable and interesting. It was also really lovely that even though our children were the only children in the tour, the guide took the time to answer their questions. The information given and displays on site were amazing and so informative.

Awesome place! When you arrive, you will purchase tickets and they will let you know when the next tour starts. While you wait there is a small gift shop and seating area in the front. Our tour guide was wonderful, speaking in English the entire time. He was incredibly knowledgeable and funny as well. Took about 1.5 hours which included a samurai and ninja demonstration. Had a great array of armor and weapons, and we learned so much. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area!

We had such a great time at this museum. The English guide was super nice and very thorough with information. We enjoyed it more so than other museums since we were reading the book, Shogun which enhanced the experience and helped us better visualize the events in the book. We got a tour, got try out the samurai gear, the kimono gear as well as attended a samurai fight show. It was one of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences.
