2 N Earl St, Northside, Dublin 1, D01 K5W5, Ireland
Most favourite. Respect to his special attitude towards Andre the Giant Bulgarian Roussimoff
Have you ever found yourself walking down North Earl Street, and suddenly the thought strikes you: "You know, I NEED to know what Joyce would look like if someone dipped him in bronze"? Well, you are in luck, my friend, because do I have the attraction for YOU! Very statuesque, uniquely Joycey. I watched it like a hawk for well over four hours, and it didnt move ONCE, nor did it at any point look even slightly less like Joyce. 10/10, would scrutinise again
Located on North Earl street leading to the spire on O'connell street. The James Joyce statue brings to life images of past heroes.
A great statue of a literary giant. The sculpture is based on a photo taken of Joyce while in Zurich. I always imagine he's looking up at the Swiss sky and wondering what's happening back in Dublin: "it's probably raining in Dublin right now". He's positioned in such a way where he's nearly looking up at The Spire, no doubt inventing some creative nicknames for it. For a fella who created over 250 nicknames for Dublin in Finnegans Wake, I'm sure Joyce would have a lot to say about The Spire.
For English literature students, this is a must visit. A sense of proximity to the author, his age and works fills one instantly. Located at the City Centre, it is not difficult to find and you may also top the statue visit with a meal at Soma, a fine restaurant just behind the statue.
