Mysore - Madikeri Rd, Hunsur, Karnataka 571201, India
Superb place... Kabini river in the forest area is Very beautiful during day time and equally frightening at night... with all those animal sounds and thrill of the jungle we enjoyed every moment at this place... Icing on the cake was we saw 4 tigers with 3 Cubs during our safari here (excitement was high as this being our 1st safari in forest here)
During my visit i have came across few Animals, they were near to me. Nice atmosphere and the 70% of the road was good but there were few speed breakers. Try not to slow or stop the car, that is if crossing late (closer to 6pm which was the maximum limit to enter the forest for a particular day) it can be dangerous as there is no light during the night, I have came across a few Elephant in front of my car during my visit. Also taking photos are strictly prohibited overall it was a nice experience for me on that day. It is one of the shortest path between Kerala border to Karnataka border, or reverse.
My very first safari, its huge and beautiful and we saw many woodpeckers and some other birds as it's a monsoon season. We couldn't see any tigers but heard his roar and we were sorted ...:) Minus one star as the pitstop given to the people for the washroom was super dirty and not at maintained inside the park. One of the elephant charged on us but the driver took care of the same, impressive!!
An amazing place to visit and enjoy. Board one of the safari jeeps that's takes you into the forest (forget the safari bus - it is inadequate) and with some luck you may see a Tiger or Leopard. Our driver was skilled and he pointed out to us this Leopard asleep in a tree. A highly recommended activity.
The road is best if you are on two wheeler. I was lucky to see wild elephant near by road. There are lot of deers in the national park..Please confirm the timings of the road before visiting there.
