We stayed for two nights as part of a party of 13. Lots of snow around in February. Very windy. They said as bad as it usually gets, but it was quiet enough inside. The room was spacious. The shower was lovely. The breakfast was good. My wife enjoyed the dinner. There is a pleasant room to sit for a few people out side the breakfast room. They bar has plenty of drinks and there are sofas and stools, as well as the breakfast room to sit in. The lights were out both nights. The clouds stayed away pretty well. The activity was 4 both nights and the aurora was pretty static bands of green across the sky, fading in and out over time. Some pinks in a few shots. In the lee of the hotel it wasn't too bad, only about -2 during day, but out of that it was seriously windy. The wind chill was extreme especially at night. Snowdrifts up to 4 feet. Hold on to your lens caps. A short walk away is a hydro generator. From there you can see a lot of snow in February, and mountains. Further the still is a big lake I think is called Hrauneyjalón. Wrap up warm. We did not venture off the marked routes but you can see a lot from there.
Amazing views and incredible food at their restaurant!
