Lovely and relatively rich museum. The are some very interesting paintings from Italian Toscana art of XIV c. Very nice Egyptian collection of mummies of animals and birds. Very impressive building itself.

A truly beautiful gallery and worth seeing if you're interested in the ancient, 1600-1800 and European sculpture periods. I do feel a bit cheated though because the Impressionist section (mentioned in the 2018 Rough Guide to Budapest) seems to be closed and they don't tell you that when you pay to get in. It's why I have given 3 stars. The guides are of no help, they tried to tell me the artists were in the Hungarian National Gallery. Okay, an update. The Impressionists have been moved to the Hungarian National Gallery but you may only see the "basics" as I was told by a helpful guide. The transition took place a year ago and some of the works may still not be on display.

A great museum. Amazing displays. We got in for free because we had the Budapest city card. Totally worth it and highly recommended.

This is the second must see place in Budapest after the Parliament. The permanent collection is really big. The building is magnificent. Also if you catch Michelangelo - get the audio guide. The audio is good for the permanent but for Michelangelo is much needed and really adds to the exhibition. The museum staff are friendly and helpful. The museum cafe is really nice place. You might need a whole day to see everything.

In two words Nice building... Web site is not informative enough, missing information of unavailable exhibitions! Very hard to get around especially without the elevator. Does have wheelchairs available for visitors and accessible stairs. Poor exhibitions, luck of English information in many cases, Audio guide is partly covering and the information given is very poor. In my opinion too many workers are going around...
