Boulevard Henri IV, 34000 Montpellier, France
We visited September 2019. When you enter through the main gate, make sure you walk to the right. The section to the left of the main entrance is under renovation. The section to be right of the main gate, especially the bamboo / tropical area is very nice - a great place to relax, read a book on a hot day. Recommended..
It's a beautiful site but not very well maintained. The cactus garden however is very well kept in a beautiful greenhouse but has limited opening hours, we were refused entrance because a paying group came in, disappointing. The garden also hosts several stray cats who are well looked after and keep the place free from rodents.. a pretty place but requires more care and better service.
A lovely park to visit with a nice collection of different species. Easy to get lost in, but I say it as a good thing! However, some parts seemed a bit lacking in terms of maintenance, but that added a unique sense of "wilderness" to a park found in the middle of a city. The fauna was fascinating as well - hummingbird moths, frogs, beautiful bees, and other friendly critters. Take caution with the mosquitos, those can get annoying!
Lovely space in the heart of the city. Free admission and some decent shade on a hot summer day. Bring some cold refreshments and enjoy their sensory garden.
The garden had strict rules of no balls and picnics. As well as been mostly unkept. If you are looking for somewhere to have a relaxing picnic with you family, this is not it. If you fancy a stroll around an arid unkept garden where most of the exits are closed off, you'll enjoy it here. There were two cute cats. 🐱🐈
