This challenge will take you into the arctic wilderness of Pyhä-Luosto National Park, where you will ski in an easy-to-maneuver forest. Turn the adventure up a notch by camping in unknown locations. Ultimately have a spectacular survival experience.
Epic multi-day ski & snowshoe tour in Pyhä-Luosto National Park. This adventure takes the explorer across the unbroken snow of vast Aapa bogs and through the ancient forests.
Skis are short and wide, making them easy-to-maneuver in. The custom wilderness skis come integrated with climbing skins on the bottom of the skis. Skiers will pull Ohio sleds (also called pulka) packing personal and/or group equipment. That will keep the backpack weight low and add the right kind of Arctic spirit. A Bliss guide will lead the tour and share his/her knowledge about the surrounding nature. You will also learn about wilderness travel traditions and tips on how to keep safe and sound at all times.
Skiers will spend the first night at a genuine Finnish wilderness hut in the middle of nowhere. A proper wood-heated sauna will be available. One can also grab the recommended option of rolling in snow during the sauna session – rewarding for both body and soul!
On the last day, you will climb the steep hills of the Pyhätunturi fell range on snowshoes.
This is a great opportunity to experience a challenging multi-day ski & snowshoe tour in a true Arctic wilderness. The explorer will learn wilderness skiing technique & strategy, how to pack the sled, the daily maintenance routine, weather, etc. During the ski & snowshoe tour, you may also practice various Arctic skills with the Bliss guide, such as navigation in Taiga forest, use of the traditional puukko knife, fire making in cold, snowy environment, wilderness cooking methods, and so on.
