Obala Kulina bana, Sarajevo 71000, Bosnia and Herzegovina
10 KM per person. If you wanna save $, don't spent 4 KM of entrance fee on 1914 Assassination Museum because everything shows there is available here at the basement museum. And the exhibition here is a lot better than there.
If you're in Sarajevo, seriously do not miss out on the Vijećnica, one of the most significant buildings in the city. Built as a city hall, it was a library for decades until it was destroyed in the siege of Sarajevo, leading, in the process, to the ruin of more books than in the fire of the Alexandria library. It was painstakingly restored and is now a symbol of renewal. Good museum in the basement about Sarajevo history and a beautiful building throughout.
Rebuilt just a few years ago after its total destruction during the 90s war. All the books went up in flames, such a national tragedy. It's rebuilt now and you can visit the interior (fee applies) or just enjoy from the outside. Built in the Moorish style of Spain, the original building was completed during the Austro Hungarian rule of Bosnia.
Beautifully renovated, true masterpiece! After the city library burned down it took more than 20 years to renovate it. However it was worth waiting: the motives and the colouring combination represents the true Bosnian style. The building is mainly served as place for exhibition. The terrace at the first floor is huge and gives an excellent view at the downtown.
It's one of the most beautiful buildings in Sarajevo. I loved it 28 years ago, who were last time I visited it, until now. And I felt in love with it again. A must to see in Sarajevo.
