Truly a unique place in the world. Nothing like it anywhere else. We came on 2 separate days, after having visited 15 years ago. Night time visits are also available. Come for the beauty, the photo opportunities, the Catholicism, the history, the inspiration, the spirituality. Whatever your reason for coming, you will not be disappointed.

A vast site covering some two blocks of the ancient city. Partly still in use (and off limits). But you will visit many courtyards, rooms, kitchens, studies and lanes as you hear the story of this place which has operated as a convent since mid fifteen hundreds. Lovely flowers, coloured wall and cool water features. A must-see for Arequipa.

Wonderful! We went on Wednesday when is open also after the sunset incredible atmosphere. We suggest to take the guided tour the ladies are very good. After you will know many stories about the monastero that no guide-book will tell you.

City within a city, the Santa Catalina Monastery is a must see place in Arequipa. Interesting history and photographer's paradise. Will recommend visiting around sunset for some amazing photos. Also, take a tour guide at the entrance to learn about the history of the place.

This lives up to the hype. Get a guide or don't. The rooms have placards in them but you do get more out of the guide. The guided tour lasts about an hour and a half but you can go back on your own. Theres a nice cafe inside and a gift shop with religious and non religious gifts. The soaps and hand cream make a special gift.
