Located in a beautiful area in Norway you find Heddal viking church. It's lovely both inside and outside. Still used today for weddings. I recommend to wait for the guided tour.
It is always very pleasant experience to be here. This time with English speaking local guide, who extended our knowledge. Impressive place.
13th century Viking church is a point of interest that must be seen if visiting Norway. Nice cafe and souvenir shop across the street from the church. They have guided tours as well if you are interested.
I have known the stave church for 40 years and always visit when in Norway. This time, l saw the timber had been painted with tar. Good for preservation of course, but a shame that tar had been dropped along the ground, under the entrance gate and all around the church itself. A plastic sheet and a bit of care would have prevented this. The cafe and gift shop are very pleasant.
