The museum is the place to have information about the earthquake that devastated the Christchurch people. The remains of buildings, relics and some fun facts is gathered here and it is a good place to build understanding of the difficulties faced by the Christchurches people. Pricing is a bit too high but that is not too bad for a museum like this. Great place to visit in Christchurch, New Zealand.

I would highly recommend this place. Coming from Scotland where earthquakes are unheard of, it was fascinating finding out all about the science behind earthquakes as well as the destruction they can cause. The video of survivor’s stories was particularly interesting as well as emotional. The experiment to explain liquefaction was a great way to help understand it better, and I would have liked a few more hands on experiences like that, particularly some sort of simulator to experience the effects of an earthquake. More suited to adults or older children as I don’t think there would be much to entertain young children. $20 was reasonable for adult entry.

Interessting museum explaining everything about the earthquake that hit the city in 2011. There are a lot of information, presented in a wide variety of different media. Also many interactive things for kids and adults. The highlight is a movie of approx. 70min showing how different people experienced the earthquake. On the downside, compared to other museums it seems to be a bit expensive.

If you are a visitor to Christchurch then i highly recommend you come to Quake City exhibit as early as you can so that you can appreciate exactly what this amazing city and its people have been through. You gain a grounding sense of perspective as you walk around the city & see what they have achieved.

Good to learn the history of earthquakes in Christchurch. Walked through in 30mins which was enough time to see most stuff. Could stay longer if you want to watch more of the videos. Would recommend going before walking around the city as it gives you a lot of context.
