604 Taga, Inukami-gun, Shiga 522-0341, Japan
I was driving through the countryside and came across this shrine. It must have been a quiet season as very few others seemed to visit. Shops nearby seem eagerly prepared for larger crowds.
It has really old history in Japan. One of couple of gods are living in this shrine. Their daughter is Goddess of the sun. So one of the most important shrine in Japan.
It's a great place to visit
Very beautiful and peaceful shrine with a delicious soba shop inside. Just outside the grounds is a nice little market to do some shopping.
This beautiful shrine, dedicated to Izanagi and Izanami, is already mentioned in the Kojiki. It was allegedly founded in AD 620. The garden is worth more than a honorable mention, too. Definitely one of the must-see spots in Shiga.
