Piazzale degli Uffizi, 6, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy
The best place I've been in this city or Rome. So much wonderful art! Fantastic statues and paintings everywhere. Be prepared to spend hours here. Totally worth the cost of tickets. Snack bar about half way through should carry you to the end. Amazing.
Most of the best stuff is on the top floor after a fair climb up wide staircases. On entry head right so you begin at the start of the corridor. The rooms of interest are then on your left. There are artworks by many famous names. The cafe is busy but the fare is fine.
My favorite museum in Florence, definitely a must see! We failed to get tickets in advance, and arrived a little before 8:15 am (opening time) and were able to get in fairly quickly. I would recommend getting here early, as it does get super packed with tourists and tour groups. There are tons of marble statues to see, and they have done a great job giving information on plaques on every single statue. Well worth the price and spending a couple of hours in.
An excellent place to spend a morning. You could spend all day if you're crazy about art, or not interested in other places in Florence, but I found a morning to be perfect. Get tickets ahead of time to beat the crowds, and enjoy the incredible range of art from Roman to Renaissance to enlightenment and some modern art (mostly Renaissance, tbh). The buildings themselves are amazing.
It was a great gallery to walk through for a few hours. I loved seeing the evolution of the different styles of paintings. I really recommend scheduling one of the tours ahead of time. It made the whole experience much easier!
