The day starts with a morning whale watching tour in Reykjavik. The rest of the day is spent river rafting on Hvítá river.
This adventure day trip in Iceland combines whale watching from Reykjavik Harbor with river rafting on the Hvítá River.
The day starts with a pick up from your accommodating travel guide. Following is an unforgettable boat journey where you explore the world of whales and sea birds. From Reykjavik’s old harbor, we set sail into the deep blue ocean wilderness to get up close and personal with whales in their natural habitat. The most commonly spotted are minke whales, white-beaked dolphins, harbor porpoises, and humpback whales, with the occasional appearance of fin, sei, and killer whales (orcas). Along the way we find ourselves in the company of gannets, guillemots, cormorants, kittiwakes, arctic terns, and many more. The trip also takes us past several islands inhabited by colonies of puffins– a marine birder’s paradise and photographer’s dream! Before returning to the docks we enjoy a light lunch served on board.
Upon landing, your ride awaits to take you to our Drumbo rafting base for a splash on the Hvita river. The ride is 7 km long and takes us through crashing waves and exciting rapids as it winds its way through a series of spectacular canyons. Along the way, you will get the opportunity to swim in the glacial waters and brave the heights of our cliff jump! For those with a more powerful thirst for adventure. Wrap up the adventure with a hot shower and a sauna, and our country bar. You can also add on a optional BBQ dinner before we head back to Reykjavik.
