The ice cave tour was one of our favorite parts of our trip (Mid-Nov). The instructions on meeting point were easy to follow, making our guide easy to find at Jökulsárlón. Ollie (I think that’s how you spell it) was a fantastic guide for our tour. He explained how the ice caves are formed, how much the glacier and caves have changed over time, and their process for finding them. He was also great about taking pictures if you asked him to. Each season the groups are taken to different caves based on precipitation and how long they last. Transportation to the ice cave took about 35 minutes from the meeting point. Actual touring of caves was about 45 minutes. They provided crampons for walking on ice. Definitely a unique must-do experience if in Iceland during the winter.
