Lokastígur 28, 101 Reykjavík, Iceland
Loved it. Nice staff. The rye bread is incredible, I had it with mashed fish and the other slice herring and egg with a side of rye bread ice cream, my husband had the lamb soup. Decent price for Icelandic standards. Highly recommend!
Excellent food, great tasting and good portions! We had the mashed fish, so delicious. Also like others have said the rye ice cream is incredible. It does taste like a homemade meal. If you are passing by the church I would recommend to stop by Cafe Loki and try one of their meals.
Due to the location and large English signs I expected this to be a Time Square level tourist trap, but the service was great and the menu was good. Catering to tourists for sure but not too much, you know? Perfect balance
I thought this was going to be a tourist trap, but it had surprisingly amazing food and wasn't expensive (by Iceland standards)! I LOVED the mashed fish and smoked lamb (which tasted more like smoked ham) and the rye bread ice cream is definitely a must-try! I wasn't a fan of the fermented shark (smells like ammonia and tastes like Roquefort cheese) but am glad I tried it. And the servers were really nice and even helped us plan our trip!
My partner and I really loved visiting this place. The prices were ok, the atmosphere was pleasant and the waitress was very friendly. I would surely visit again if I pass through Reykjavik. Take the rye bread menu to get a taste of a few different things, each very tasty. Be sure to grab a seat upstairs to get a nice view on the church.
