Best way to see whole city panorama. The view is amazing as you can see the port as well as the island part of the city. You can view few building from the inside like mosque and churches, there is also one Cave but it smells with human urine so I wouldn't go there. Lovely place minus the Cave.

I am gonna use a post I used once again, but is spot on. If you grow up in a place, you stop noticing such places at a young age. After living some years abroad, you start appreciating them more when you visit it again for holidays. Would say rethymno as a city has quite the attractions and is worth visiting.

Lovely views of Rethymno. Absolutely no idea what you're looking at once inside. Make sure you lift a map when you pay (it gives you slight information on what you see) Such a shame as this place could be so interesting.

Low cost to access and nice historical site. Weird twist... Animal adoption peddling was not expected. Puppies with signs laid out for possible adoption or asking for donations was absolutely heart wrenching! Just kinda soured my trip as i wasn't taking them anywhere.

Fantastic place to visit. The views from the ramparts are outstanding. Well worth seeing when in Crete. It was 29 degrees the day we went so wear a hat and take plenty of water. The photos I've posted give a small glimpse of the size and scale of the castle.
