The Eeastfjords, a sometimes overlooked area of the country, is one that often comes as a pleasant surprise to visitors with its magnificent mountains, fjords, glaciers and small fishing villages.
If you do a road-trip through the Eastfjords, you’ll be enjoying long and deep fjords with steep mountains on all sides. There are many small towns worth stopping for along they way such as Höfn, Egilsstaðir, Seyðisfjörður and Djúpivogur to name a few. This area is also the gateway to some of the more remote wilderness areas such as Snæfell mountain, and the Lónsöræfi Nature Reserve which is a favorite amongst many locals and has yet to become mainstream amongst tourists.
