Just go! Seriously! It's gorgeous. Most of the main trails are paved and it is easy to get around. That should not scare hiker types away though. There are formal and informal unpaved trails and everything is beautiful wherever you are. It's easy to spend 30 minutes or a whole day exploring the beauty.

This was the first spot for us on our Maui vacation and it was a great place to start. Amazing views and a relatively easy walk up to the top. On the way down, be sure to take the path down to the river under the canopy. It's a great place to put your feet in the water and escape the sun. The needle is a really amazing thing to see as well as the Valley itself. Beautiful.

Tucked in a beautiful valley Iao Valley State Park is a must see for those who visit Maui. A 0.6 mile path takes you through and over a bridge that allows picturesque views of the Iao Needle that rises 1200ft over the valley floor. There are plenty of photo opportunities here with the magnificent mountains that tower over you from both sides of the park. Not an overly strenuous walk/hike but there are steps and hills that some may find difficult. Parking is $5.00 per car and even though there are many parking spots on the paved lot, parking fills fast and you may have to park on the road outside the pay booth. We say many people parking on the road and taking the short walk into the park to avoid the $5.00 parking fee.

Wished we had more time here but this place was absolutely stunning! Parking was $5 for non locals. The lot itself is small but we came later in the day so there were plenty. There's convenient walkways that lead you up and down the area. Paths off the walkway can be taken to dip your feet into the cool stream. The hills were filled with lush green plant life. It was one of the nicest places I've seen in person.

The history of this place is wonderful being the look out for the Hawaiians back in the day. They have restrooms at the base and nice trails. When we went we were only able to do a little part due to the flooding they had some trails were washed away and closed off. Well worth checking out it makes you feel so small in such a big valley.
