Large park with much to explore. Good kids playground and beautiful beach. It can smell a little near the treatment plant but don’t be deterred it’s not overpowering. Bring a lunch. Parking is free I suggest south lot if you’re walking to the beach. Some restrooms and honey buckets at the parking lot.

The best place to get away from the city and reconnect with nature without actually getting away from the city! Last time there we saw an owl out in the daylight. Love the ability to sit down by the lighthouse and reflect and listen to the Sound. Trails are pretty well maintained for how trafficked it is, and they have lots of rest points for those who need it.

This is a great hike if you're in Seattle. Beware though, this is a HIKE. It's approximately a 3 mile round round trip if you start at the visitor center and go to the lighthouse. The terrain isn't challenging and the paths are clearly marked so it makes this hike easy if you're able to do the walking. If you have 2 hours to kill in Seattle it's worth the stop.

One of my favorite places in the area. My ideal vacation is hiking or rappelling. I headed to Seattle and did all the typical touristy stuff. Day 3, I had to get out of the city. Discovery Park was a recommendation so that I didn't have to drive 2 hours. LOVED IT. The visitor center gal wasn't super helpful but I figured things out. I walked to South Beach along the tree surrounded path and fell in love with the world again. The sound of birds chirping and the trees moving in the wind was exactly what I needed. Parts of the trail have some challenge to them but not unreasonable. I recommend tennis shoes. The views are outstanding. I only walked about 4 miles in total but felt accomplished and rebooted from the madness of the city.

Lots of hiking trails and the visitor centre was great too! One of the best playgrounds we've been to in awhile. We didn't even get to the beach (it's a bit of a walk and it was raining the day we went), but still thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
