47 Mill Way, Grantchester, Cambridge CB3 9ND, UK
Lovely place to visit especially if the weather is dry and sunny. Sitting in the gardens is fantastically relaxing. The only slight disappointment is that the last couple of visits over the weekend the waiting times for cooked food was very long. This is more a reflection of how popular the place is and in all honesty there's worse places to wait for food. The food is very nice though so is ultimately worth the wait.
Love this place! Peaceful, unique and lovely food! Pretty expensive but worth it for the experience. Been many times just for the scones and jam and clotted cream, but they do lovely lunches too
Quaint village setting of Granchester famous for the TV series namesake with an indoor, rustic style restaurant and a large outdoor orchard with deckchairs, tables and ordinary garden furniture. Meals above average quality but slightly higher than expected prices. Includes a photo gallery in monochrome of famous visitors and some of its history. A must on your bucket list.
Nice place to spend the afternoon. The orchard area is peaceful and the sunset gives it a magical touch. The tea aspect, though, is not what I expected. It's more like a self-service shop rather than the more home-made feeling of other tea houses in the area. Also, the wasps, attracted by the jam made ruined a bit the experience.
Over priced and over cooked, you aren't going to The Orchard for the quality of the scones or the cream tea, you're going for the atmosphere. Outside seating pitches for too inclined a position where you are not limber enough to overcome the limbo of the feast on tables. The trees are wonderful and a welcome respite from the heat, the ambience not bad, an impressive laurels of past history, rests on the current void. Could be better - needs some improvement.
