Erddig, Marchwiel, Wrexham LL13 0YT, UK
Erddig is stunning and so very easy to walk around. Meander around the formal gardens of glorious colour, the trees and views WOW never seen so many different varieties of apple trees. Meeting the many servants of yesteryear was so beautiful looking at their portraits along the hall on the lower ground floor. So many wonderful interesting things to see of preserved history of a gorgeous country estate. Have a very close up look at the painting/portrait of Queen Victoria.
Really nice place. Got to by some pretty narrow roads. A pretty good amount of parking surrounded by wildflower planting. Cost us £18 for two adults, but we were slightly disappointed to find out after paying that the house wasn’t open due to lack of volunteers. However we were given the last two free tickets for a guided garden tour. It was an interesting tour giving more of an insight into some history of the owners and the different forms the gardens had taken over the years and current restoration by the national trust. Ended up spending 4 hours there. The gardens were beautiful despite being later in the summer season. There is a gift shop and restaurant and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Good toilets. P.s. if you want to do any of the walk routes, you need to go back out through the entrance to the dove cote. All walks start there. Interesting to go and see the cup and saucer.
We spent a very pleasant few hours here. The house isn't fully open at the moment but the servant's quarters were definitely worth seeing. The gardens were lovely. Not all neat and manicured but the grandeur of the layout was clear to see. Boxed hedging, topiary, fruit trees, colourful mixed borders and lakes made for an enjoyable visit. Great walks around the outside of the estate too. Not the biggest or grandest NT property and garden but well worth a visit.
Well kept stately home fantastic gardens and orchards. Garden ponds full of mirror Carp. Was a pity the upstairs was closed. The ladies at the entrance were very informative professional and to be fair good crack. Only one minor complaint the upstairs cafe needs sorting it was roasting up there and I mean roasting.
Lovely gardens and trees more history then u can shake a stick at worth a visit. cinema experience there at the moment 3 nights of out door cinema food and fun well worth a visit fun for all the family day out round and about the ponds watching the dragonflies then sit back and chill with a cool beer and burger to watch a movie under the stars 👍
