Kayaking The Arctic Spring Ice
Paddle through the melting ice bergs and ice floes in your kayak, enjoy the cool and warm weather of the Arctic spring on this special tour of cold Swedish waters.
What to expect?
The arctic cold is losing its grip, and the warm sun of the coming spring is melting the sea ice. After the safety instructions, you board your kayak on the open water of the Pite River, where you see the first ice floes. You paddle out to the sea at Bondöfjärden. Here you paddle among small ice bergs, ice floes, and channels in the ice. You catch the arctic feeling of spring next to the melting ice and ice floes.
The first gulls of the spring may great you, and maybe a sea eagle passes above you, or a curios seal is watching you. You enjoy a warm drink and snacks sitting in the kayak among the ice floes, and listen to the sound of cracking and dripping ice. This is an experience you can otherwise only get on Greenland, or in the high Arctic.
