Learn about the beautiful nature and geological heritage of this territory on a walk covering more than 15 million years of history. Discover the incredible and unique flysch rock formations of the UNESCO World Heritage Basque Coast Geopark.
We will start by walking through some of the most important streets and buildings of Zumaia, a little village west of San Sebastian, famous for having the most incredible cliffs in the Basque coast. Here we will discover hidden fossils, and talk about the history of this unique place. We'll then head off the beaten path to a hidden viewpoint with astonishing views of the Basque Coast UNESCO Global Geopark.
After admiring the views we'll descend to the beach to learn about the incredible geological heritage of this area, after which we'll visit the iconic Ermita de San Telmo, where we'll do some more fossil hunting. Algorri rocky cove will be our last stop, where we will learn about the extinction of the dinosaurs, and how biodiversity has evolved through millions of years.
The gorgeous landscape will be our eternal companion, but of course, to finish this tour we'll go to a bar for a pintxo and a drink. Why? Because this is the only bar that serves traditional octopus soup all year round (only during the mornings though). If not, we'll go to another hidden gastronomic gem.
