On this tour, we'll go off the beaten path through the city, visiting local neighborhoods and parks. We'll use back doors and short cuts in order to go to interesting places inside the parks, like caves, ponds and huge trees that you wouldn't find on a map.
We'll start in the neighborhood of Egia, a recent corner of San Sebastian, and shortly after head up to Cristina Enea, a hidden gem just 15 minutes from the town center. Walking along this park we will discover a palace that has peacocks, living free inside the city!
We'll then cross the river, and head up to the main residential neighborhood of Donostia, Amara. There, we'll learn the main aspects of the day to day life of the locals and modern Basque society. The local history here incredibly complex, yet so enchanting that you run the risk of wanting to stay and live here!
After walking around Amara, we’ll head up to Aiete Park, which is one of the biggest parks in town, yet probably one of the most unknown. You'll see immense trees, a hidden cave and a palace, where the most loved and hated personalities of this country stayed during their holidays.
We'll finally descend to our last park and palace in Miramar, where a Spanish queen put San Sebastian on the map during the Belle Epoque.
Our final stop will be a local tavern to process all the lush green and intriguing history that you just learned about with a well deserved hot or cold drink.
