Perfect for guests with time constraints, this roughly 6-hour excursion takes you through the picturesque Mallorcan countryside before hitting the island's famous East Coast for a bit of cave exploration and musical entertainment via traditional boat ride.
Time is precious on the beautiful island of Mallorca, so we suggest this half-day excursion to the Mallorcan Caves of Drach. Also referred to as the "dragon caves", this tour is about 6 hours long, providing you with a series of memorable experiences while still providing ample time to soak up a few rays on Mallorca's famous beaches.
The tour has two parts: the visit to the Caves of Drach, and the opportunity to learn a little more about the famous pearls by visiting the Mallorca Pearls Factory Shop. Once you have been collected in the morning, the tour will head by bus to the East area of Mallorca to visit the factory shop, where you'll discover the interesting process of pearl elaboration on the island. The pearl industry is what this area is known for, so make sure to bring a camera and enjoy the many photo opportunities that are sure to pop up.
Next, we will continue on to the Porto Cristo Caves, one of Mallorca's top attractions. This cave complex leads guests to the extraordinary Caves of Drach. Once you enter these caves, you'll almost certainly feel stunned by the beauty of the stalactites and stalagmites. Moving deeper into the cave, visitors will come across the Baths of Diana, where you can view the turquoise coloured water that these baths are famous for.
After exploring the caves, it will be time for the highlight of the tour: a live classical music concert that actually takes place inside of the caves, just beside Lake Martel. This is one of the largest and most fascinating underground lakes in the world, and when paired with the music and included light show, it makes for an incredible experience.
Finally, to round off such a magical experience, you'll have the chance to go on a brief boat trip inside the Caves of Drach in a rowboat. After the visit to the Caves of Drach, the tour will take you back to the same point where you were collected earlier on in the morning.
The price of the tour includes the Caves of Drach entrance fee, the classical music concert inside, the rowing boat trip to across Lake Martel, return transport by air conditioned bus from Palma to Porto Cristo, Mallorca official guide, and travel insurance.
There are 320 steps, and they are not suitable for people with a wheelchair or serious walking difficulties. Strollers and pushchairs for babies should be left in the coach during the visit to the caves.
Dress in layers, as the caves tend to be between 60 and 70 degrees F throughout the year.
