Museum has really impressive private collection, involving periods starting from Ancient Egypt to our days. Definitely worth checking out if you’re interested in art. Also the museum’s garden is a gorgeous oasis with little waterfalls, ducks and little bamboo forest. Walking there is a real pleasure. A small minus - museum’s bistro with self-service has menu in portugese only.
Top notch museum. Very pleased that we came here. Great collection of art from different periods and from different geographical areas. The museum had temporary exhibits that you pay extra to see. We opted not to visit those exhibits. Be sure to inquire discounts if you qualify (seniors, student, etc.)
I went to view the Portuguese contemporary jewellery exhibition at this lovely space and I was blown away by the content and the architecture of the building. The garden and green space is the cherry on top of the cake though! Very pleasant and memorable visit.
Excellent collection to visit and learn about ancient cultures and how they are associated with the fascinating life of Gulbenkian. The temporary collection was of a great quality ( "The rise of islamic art"). The restaurant inside is well situated and you can eat outside and enjoy the garden. Personally only the modern art collection didn't attract me but that's a personal taste and not a critic to the collection.
Absolutely fantastic gallery with great art in their permanent exhibition and we saw the Muslim art exhibition at the time. Also fantastic. Has a great gift shop too..
