The coastal resort of Paracas may seem a world away from bustling Lima, but you can visit in just one day on this guided tour. Perfect for those with limited time, the tour takes you to the Ballestas Islands (known as Peru's Galapagos), on a dune buggy tour through the Ica Desert's sand dunes, and to a Pisco vineyard.
Pass By: Lima
At around 6 am, you'll be picked up from your hotel in a private vehicle & be dropped off at the group meeting point for the tour. From here, you'll board a bus headed to Paracas at around 7 am, along with being served a small breakfast. After arriving in Paracas, you'll take a transfer to the dock from where you'll board a speedboat for a ride out to the Ballestas Islands.
During your trip to Ballestas you will visit the enigmatic figure of the Candelabro, a stunning design drawn on the side of a hill in the Peninsula. Nobody knows for sure who did it or why, although there are many hypotheses regarding its origins. Some believe it is related to the Nazca Lines, but up until this point, not much evidence has been found to support that hypothesis. After viewing the Candelabro, you'll head to the islands where you can view the natural wildlife, including sea lions and flamingos. You'll check out the islands from a distance, and possibly check out some sea caves, provided the weather & waves permit it.
After viewing the islands, you'll stop in Paracas for some lunch before getting onboard your ground transportation to head towards Huacachina. Upon arrival, you'll take a small break to prepare for the desert component of the tour, including a 1-hour dune buggy ride. Once you return, you'll take a tour of some local vineyards before heading back home.
