Enjoy a short excursion during your time at port to the Ballestas Islands and Paracas National Reserve by speedboat. See the iconic Candelabra geoglyph carved into the side of a mountain, and observe the native flora and fauna of the area, including sea lions, as you navigate through beachfront caves.
Pass By: Islas Ballestas, Paracas, Ica Region
After meeting your guide at 9:15 am at San Martin Port, you'll be transferred to Paracas, where you'll meet the rest of your tour group and board a speed board heading towards Ballestas Island.
On the way you will stop at the Paracas Peninsula to see the enigmatic figure of the Candelabro. A stunning design drawn on the side of a hill in the Peninsula. Nobody knows for sure who did it or why, although there are many hypotheses regarding its origin. Some believe it is related to the Nazca Lines, but as of yet, not much evidence has been found to support these claims.
Afterwards will head off to Ballestas Island where you will enjoy a stunning world filled with birds and sea lions. Here you will visit the three islands at a safe distance, while also navigating into some caves, as long as the weather & waves permit.
Upon your return to the port (10:00am), you will board our vehicle to drive towards Paracas Reserve. During your tour you will learn more about Paracas Reserve by visiting the interpretation center, an interesting building that displays photos about all the fauna, & flora you might see in the area.
Afterwards, we will drive throughout a lifeless desert until we reach an area a great natural rock formation known as the Cathedral once stood. Unfortunately, this old formation did not withstand the 2007 earthquake.
After checking out the Cathedral, you will visit Playa Roja and Lagunillas beach for some refreshments, before beginning the trip home.
