Words cannot convey what this place is like while walking through this former village of Inca Indians who created a self-sustaining community over 500 years ago on a mountain top over 16,000 ft in the air...until the Spanish Conquistadors drove them out and destroyed much of what they created. There is still a great reverence for what the Incas achieved with such limited tools, but I wish the amount of daily visitors was more limited than it already is.

Ana amazing site to visit. Easy to get the bus up and down from the town. I would recommend going in the afternoon when it is quieter and if you can, the next morning, to increase your chances of seeing it in clear weather.

Machu Picchu is by all means one of those places a person who calls themselves a "traveller" must see! The beauty of this location is beyond imagination and no picture can ever reveal the real magic, one can feel while being there. A true wonder indeed!

Great historical site with amazing views. Recommend getting there as early as possible (like 6 AM). However the mornings are foggy and this makes the ruins and surrounding mountains harder to see. Usually the fog clears up around noon. But if you wait this long you almost most definitely will have a long wait for one of the buses to go back down the mountain.
