Haukelandsbakken 40, 5009 Bergen, Norway
Amazing views, but long wait at the station (~1h during off season). Parking is very limited and very expensive. I'd recommend not taking the gondola but drive a bit further up and walk the Sherpa steps instead.
Great way to get to the top of the mountain! The cable car was a little old, but I felt safe in it. There were great views on the way up, but even better ones at the top. The top had a little shop where they also had maps for hiking. If you are planning on hiking make sure you grab one! (The trails are marked but when we took one that wasn't as heavily traveled it was nice to have!) Make sure you pack/ wear a wind breaker. It was windy and cold at the top. And if you are planning on hiking, pack an extra layer of warm clothes. We had rain, snow and sunshine on our hike.
Such a wonderful adventures taken last weekend. Fresh air, sunshine, plenty of hikers and breezy. Always wear warm clothes up and down to cover from freaking wind😂. So grateful for those hard working people to built another stairs and extra open lounge along the way for mountaineers and tourist to take a break .
It's worth the visit. The views from the top are amazing. You can also go for a walk once you leave the cablecar.
An amazing experience but beware of the queues. There is in effect one cable car going up and one going down and it holds between ten and fifteen people. Do the maths when you get there and bear in mind if there's a one hour plus queue at the bottom it will more than likely be replicated at the top unless everyone is going to hike down.... unlikely on a timed visit. If on a cruise only do this via the cruise line so if your party is late like ours was the boat waits for you!! Views are really good on a clear day....on a misty day your probably only going to see mist!
