Great hike, with rewarding views at the top. The ascension is aroind 1600 meters with the starting point at 800m. The hike to the top takes between 4-5 hours, but may be doable in under 4 hours if you are very eager. The weather changes rapidly so it pays off to stay at the top a bit longer if you happen to be in mist, because the view is breathtaking.

When you decide to walk Galdhopiggen from Spiterstulen you need to be absolutely sure about doing it. There will be millions of stones, not a single meter of flat mark. Some parts in snow. That’s easy. You will walk 1000 meters up. Bring food and water. Warm clothes needed at all times. Follow the red T’s. Small expensive kiosk at the top. No WC during the walk. Good shoes needed. Trainers as a minimum but go larger. It is a one way track, same track down again. You can also walk from Juvasshytta. Shorter over the glacier. Fantastic view on a clear day. Allow between 5,5 to 9 hours. We used 7,5 and are fairly good trained.

Amazing mountain to climb, only in Summer. Don't underestimate the difficulty, visibility can drop to just a few meters throughout the day and get lost very easily. The bar in the peak closes early too, bare in mind.
