Fantastic sandwiches. Extremely fresh ingredients. We truly loved it and would definitely come back! My partner had the eggs Benedict and I had a fish mashed potatoes sandwich! Very nice service and nice atmosphere!
Amazingly, we got a table here as a walk-in! Reservations highly recommended. Colonialen Litteraturhuset is a very hot spot and with good reason. The dishes are fantastic, the chefs have blended a challenging variety of flavors masterfully. The dishes are obviously influenced by the traditional Norwegian ingredients available locally, but not constrained by them. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a taste of what some of Norway's top chefs are cooking. That said, if I could take a half star away, I would. The service was markedly slow and inattentive. While this is more the norm than the exception in Europe, generally, it is unusual even on the Continent for restaurants of this caliber and expense. I shouldn't have to flag down the waitstaff for every glass of wine. But if you have a couple, three hours to kill with a fine dining experience, Colonialen is your place.
Amazing eggs Benedict with ham. A the sandwich brandad - fish with mashed potatoes and peas on bread. Very tasty. Service is quick and friendly, coffee was tasty. For a lunch or brunch, this was excellent.
Wow....what an incredible place! This restaurant was reconmended to me by a local. Unassuming exterior, lovely cozy interior, and PHENOMENAL food. I highly, highly recommend the creamy fish soup and the arctic char. I have been traveling in Scandinavia for 2 weeks and was one of my favorite meals by far!
Great food at a decent price. All three wait staff are extremely knowledgable about bout their food and wine offerings, and will always help you get rust l what you need. Great for both a casual lunch or a more sit dinner. The food (and prices accordingly) is on the higher class side but worth it for sure.
