Quail Island, Canterbury, New Zealand
It is something else. A perfect Oasis just a short trip from Lyttleton harbor, plenty to see and relax.
Enjoying a short ferry ride operated by Black Cat Cruises from the Lyttelton port is a great way to start this adventure. We had smooth seas and excited kids. This is a wonderful island to visit with so much to do and see - visit the dog kennels where Shackleton's and Scott's doges were housed, view the ships that have been sunk in one area, look through a display on the island's history
The Quail Island/Otamahua Ecological Restoration Trust has done a fantastic job planting native Bush and removing exotics.
Great day walk for a sunny day in the summer. The 2.5 hrs loop track is well maintained, the view is great as well.
Great place to walk or just have a picnic lunch!!
