Oudekerksplein 23, 1012 GX Amsterdam, Netherlands
Nice church in the middle of coffee shop, the red light district and a kids day care center. Some people say that: People come to this place and bring their kids to the day care center and then they have a "dutch cigarette". After that they go to the pleasure ladies. When this is done, they go to the church and confess. Then they grab the kids and have a nice day with the family. :-D
Excellent walking area. They have really updated the shops and pubs around here. It’s becoming quite nice and very relaxed. Definitely a lot cleaner.
Nice location. Lovely coffee and my wife and I really enjoyed the apple pie. The other cakes and pastries on sale looked very appealing too, but we couldn't resist the pie. Delicious! This is a busy place. We visited in the late afternoon and there were still queues for seating, especially in the outdoor entrance courtyard area. Well worth a visit.
Overpriced entrance for what it is but it's especially beautiful in late afternoon. You get a discount at the adorable cafe in the churchyard with your ticket receipt. Definitely recommend having a coffee. It's got great atmosphere. Saw some unfortunate (and rude) Hebrew graffiti in the blue room. I encourage the church staff to check the security cameras to find those who defaced the beautiful wallpaper. It embarrassed me to be Israeli.
Oldest church in the city. Has wooden ceiling. A lot of nice details worth exploring. Audio guide is available for free and easy to use. Allocate 1 for the visit if you want to see and explore it in details.
