M'Hamid El Ghazlan is a region with a desert landscape, located in the province of Zagora. Formerly known Taragaltel, it is part of the rural municipalities of Zagora province in the south of Morocco. In the distant past, this region was a large part of trade across the Saharan Desert. During this 2-day tour, learn all there is to know about this historic desert region.
Day 1: Marrakech-Ouarzazate-Zagora-Telwet-Mhamid
Day 2: M 'Hamid Ouarzazate-Ait Benhaddou -Marrakech
After sunrise and breakfast at the foot of the dune of Erg Lihoudi, you'll visit the village of Tamgroute, known for its Coranic school, old library, and the potters' quarters. Then you walk along the Draa Valley with its beautiful date palms and fields of henna. After you cross back over the Anti Atlas, you'll arrive at Ait Benhaddou for lunch and a visit the famous Ksar (fortified village) of Ait Ben Haddou. Finally, you drive along the Ounila Valley, also called the valley of salt.
Finally, cross back over the High Atlas to return to Marrakesh.
