Tizi n'Tichka, Tizi N'Tichka, Morocco
It's great but the tiz n test is much longer and more technical to ride
Tizi n'Tichka is a mountain pass in Morocco, linking the south-east of Marrakesh to the city of Ouarzazat through the High Atlas mountains. It lies above the great Marrakesh plains, and is a gateway to the Sahara Desert. From November through March, snow can often fall on the pass, but it can be warm all year round in the strong sun. It reaches an elevation of 2,260 metres above the sea level, and is the highest major mountain pass in North Africa. The road was constructed along the old caravan trail by the French military in 1936 and is now part of National Route 9.
Nice mountain pass with great views. Scenic road from Ouarzazate to Marrakesh runs via the pass. Beauty of the place partly is spoiled by many ugly souvenir shops and aggressive vendors.
Going up the Atlas mountains gives you a chance to see this scenary route. The twisting Tizi n'Tichka pass through the High Atlas to Ouarzazate is full of sheer drops, acute bends and wonderful views. Tizi n'Tichka is at the highest point on the road.
On the direction from Marrakesh there is very nice road last 10km but before that about 20km under reconstruction. The way down we turned left to Telouet towards Ait Ben Hadou - all way a reasonable good asfalt road.
