Excellent place to visit in Kyoto. Stroll along the street while eating and trying out all the wonderful food. My favourite stall was the one selling seafood. You get to eat in the shop. Definitely can't get as fresh as that. Just don't eat while walking.

Can get very busy with tourists, but it is still more than worth it! Such amazing Japanese delicacies on offer at very reasonable prices. Just remember to respect Japanese custom, not eat whilst walking, and finish your meal/ snack in front of it at the store you bought it from. Most shops close at 6pm, but some of the restaurants stay open a bit later. Enjoy!

Such a cool place to visit and experience! Many different types of exciting food and drink to sample, with very friendly vendors. There is a range of stalls and sit in restaurants. As an FYI, it is considered bad manners to eat and walk, so best to stick to the designated side areas for eating after buying some food from stalls. There is a number of cool shops in the streets nearby so you can also do some shopping is you desire and extend you visit.

A market full of goodies, lots of seafood, fresh and food you've never seen. The market winds down many small streets with lots of restaurant and lots of shops. An area where you can spend hours without paying attention. Highly recommended

It's great if you like seafood and other local food options. I loved it but my parents and family who are vegetarians couldn't stand the place due to all meat and fish smells. But don't worry just walk along parallel lane about 100m which is main shopping street as well. Anyways, this place offers lots of choices mainly for eating. Towards the river side there is other streets in perpendicular direction which are also wider and better for shopping experience. Also went to a temple there and that was great.
