That end-of-the-day pint will taste so much better after a six to eight hour hike in the Thorsmork Valley! On the way to the valley, stop at the stunning Seljalandsfoss waterfall and Gígjökull glacier lagoon where you will see the aftermath of the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption. Remember those eruptions that caused massive air travel disruption? Yep, that one. The final leg of the tour will bring us to the hike at the Fimmvörðuháls volcanoes.
This is a driver guided super jeep tour to Thorsmork Valley, following a hiking tour in the foothills of Eyjafjallajokull and Fimmvorduhals Volcanoes.
Þórsmörk Volcano day tour is truly is the hike of a lifetime. Þórsmörk (e. Thorsmork) Valley is an incredibly beautiful mountain ridge situated in the south of Iceland between the glaciers Tindfjallajökull and Eyjafjallajökull. This is the site of the first of two massive volcanic eruptions in 2010. The brand new lava, large craters, and vast sweeping mountains make this hike truly unimaginable. With its vibrantly colored valleys and abundance of huge surrounding mountains, it is sure to deliver an unforgettable experience. To reach this secluded highland valley our experienced driver/guide uses a modified 4x4 vehicle known as an Icelandic Super Jeep.
On the way to Þórsmörk we will visit the mighty and picturesque waterfall, Seljalandsfoss. Next we will pass the Gígjökull glacier lagoon where we will see the results of the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption. Our final destination is the Básar cabin where we will embark on our 6-8 hour hike up and back down the Fimmvörðuháls volcanoes. The elevation gain is between 700-800 meters and approximately 16 km total.

Please note that this trip is demanding and the conditions in Thorsmork can be hard at times. We expect clients on this trip to be dressed accordingly and have good hiking shoes. Our Thorsmork Volcano hike is a small group experience.
