What to expect?

This bus passport takes you to the trail of two of Iceland's most popular highland hiking routes, the Laugavegur hiking (2-4 day hike) trail and the Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail (1-2 day hike).

You will get bus transfer from Reykjavík and can choose between three hiking bases to start from.

With the Highland Hikers Passport you enjoy the flexibility and take as much time for the hike as you please within the operation time frame (June 15th - September 15th).

The landscape is unique with calm and quiet surroundings, an extraordinary adventure. There is nothing quite like the sound of silence.

Highlights:

  • With the Highland Hikers Passport you can choose three locations to start from: Skógar waterfall, Landmannalaugar or Þórsmörk
  • Laugavegur hiking trail is between the nature reserves Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk. The trail offers variety of unique landscape: colorful mountains, magnificent glaciers and hot springs.
  • Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail is between Skógar and Þórsmörk and leads you between the famous Eyjafjallajökull that erupted in 2010 and Mýrdalsjökull glacier.
  • This Passport is a discounted return ticket from Reykjavík to one of the three starting destinations and back to Reykjavík from where you finish your hike.

Please note that this is a bus fare without guidance.

What do I need to bring?

Warm clothes, good hiking shoes, GPS, food for your hike, sleeping bag a tent or to have arranged accommodation.
