The Cave is located in Borgarfjörður, West Iceland, a short distance from Hotel Húsafell. We are accessible by all vehicles and clearly marked on nearby roads. Look for Fljótstunga, The Cave or Víðgelmir.
FROM SOUTH ICELAND From Reykjavík take Road 1 towards Borgarnes. Before Borgarnes turn right onto Road 50, this will lead to Road 518 to Reykholt. Stay on Road 518 driving past Hotel Húsafell. Once the tarmac road turns to gravel turn left over a small bridge. Follow the signs marked “The Cave”. Approx. 65 km/ 40 miles from Road 1 to The Cave.
FROM NORTH ICELAND From Road 1 run left onto Road 50 just after the gas station Baulan. Stay on Road 50 for 18 km before turning left onto Road 518. Continue driving on Road 518 past Hotel Húsafell. Once the tarmac road turns to gravel turn left over a small bridge. Follow the signs marked “The Cave”. Approx. 50 km/ 31 miles from Road 1 to The Cave.
