Embark on a ferry safari to Grimsey Island from Dalvik and enjoy the breathtaking ride as well as the scenic view of the ocean. Learn about the local culture and traditions of the ancient people living in Grimsey Island. Also, you will have a chance to watch some of the popular sea animals in their natural environments on a sail to the island. Some of the animals you will probably see include; whales, dolphins, puffins, and some birds.

The Arctic Grimsey Ferry Sunday Tour starts as you arrive in Grímsey. You’ll depart from Dalvik harbor (30 min drive from Akureyri) where you’ll take the ferry Safari to Grimsey Island, where you’ll meet the guides at Arctic Trip. The boat ride is an excitement in itself, very often dolphins, humpback whales and even blue whales are spotted and even swim with the boat. The climate can be different from what you can expect on the mainland. You’ll get to know the history of Grimsey village and its inhabitants, cross the Arctic Circle and if weather and conditions allow – catch a puffin and take a selfie with him! Light refreshments are included.
The ferry to Grímsey leaves from Dalvík at 9:00. You will arrive at the island at 12:00. The tour starts at 12:30 and lasts till 15:00. The ferry departs at 16:00 so you’ll have some time to look around on your own after the tour. The ferry then arrives in Dalvík again at 19:00 in the evening. There’s free parking in Dalvík harbor for your car.
