One of the best experiences I had in Iceland was hiking the glacier. Impressive view and landscape. It was not as cold as I expected, once you start the hike your body heat kicks in.

Be very careful! Wife’s tongue get frozen to glacier. No hot water so had to use pee pee to rescue her!

Big glacier & it is around 15 minutes from the car park. Also, you can get very close to the glacier and stand on it.
