Hvammsvegur, 845 Flúðir, Iceland
Nice and quiet; extremely comfortable at a reasonable price. By far the best hot spring I visited on my trip. I will definitely return on my next visit to Iceland! Also, some of the best Fish and Chips I've enjoyed.
It was a beautiful setting and the place was well stocked etc. It isn't a hidden gem as there were a lot of people/tourists and it isn't very cheap either. The water isn't super hot but still nice. I am happy I had water shoes on as it is an open natural space. Its fine to be barefeet I just don't like the sensation. I did prefer the blue lagoon, but honestly the best experiences is going to the local swim halls and sitting in a hot pod there for a tenth of the price.
We didn't soak here b/c we still wanted to see the crater in the day light and drive back to Reykjavik, but it looked like a great place to have a relaxing beer. Definitely not a secret, there were a lot of people there. They give you a towel w/ admission of $30 US. Place to eat & non swimmers to wait. Easy to park.
So you didn't get a chance to experience the Blue Lagoon? How about a more authentic experience in one of the oldest Geothermally heated pools in Iceland? The scenery around this pool is breathtaking with so many hot springs. This was one of a few places I could see hot springs up close and personal but don't get too close! The water is over 100 degrees! Perfect for boiling some eggs or accidentally falling inside one of them and boiling yourself alive, ouch! It's so hot that not only can you see the water boiling but you can hear it as well. The pools water is warm and a great place to relax as well.
Extremely clean changing rooms, heated floors when you have to take your shoes off. Barley any people there so you can relax You can buy beer to have in the water, spend as much time as you want there and it’s a good price. Loved it.
