I had to see a doctor with some urgency after getting off the plane. The front desk staff were helpful and told me hours to come back where seeing a doctor would be (relatively) cheaper. I waited 15 minutes to see a doctor. They spoke English which helped. I was able to get the prescription I needed to enjoy my work/stay in Iceland. It was a tad pricey, (around AUD$220 for a consultation and 2 x prescriptions) so allow for that and/or check your insurance entitlements.

Non emphatic ... the front reception is unhelpful , rude and simply ignorant and it’s been almost 12 years and it’s not changing a bit ! If you’re not fluent in Icelandic they treat you like less of a human... in the capital you get totally different vibe. If you’re sick I recommend avoiding this place coz you won’t receive any help or treatment.

I am a Canadian citizen, living in the United States that was traveling in the country. After an unfortunate event at the airport on my way back home, I had to be rushed in the ambulance to go to the hospital. I have been in many hospitals in my life in North America but never I experienced a service similar. I felt cared about, listened, they kept me overnight even if they are closed at night. I felt like a human and not a number. It is small and it does not feel cold and unconfortable like an hospital at all. All of this to say; thank you from the bottom of my heart to the doctor and the two nurses that took care of me. You made this awful moment much more bearable.

A system similar to the Soviet Union is slow, bureaucratic, not the interests of the patients. The difference is that there was a higher level of training for doctors! If you have day off wait for 3 hours is good entertaimant....and very expensive if you havent insurence. And if you have insurence and do you Juwish( like my frand) do you get treatmentfrom D.R Josef Mengele or other Natzi fasist doctors! This hospital and the police hier is realy fasist!
